B.E.F. Music for listening to:

A brief lesson in the history of Sheffield, England.

In 1980 Martin Ware and Ian Craig Marsh left Human League and formed B.E.F. (British Electric Foundation). Sony just released the walkman and they decided to release this on cassette as Music for Stowaways. I'm sure this would sound good on headphones. The vinyl version which I ripped had the extra track A Baby Called Billy. Some of the songs are recognizable as early instrumental Heaven 17 songs. Soon after they got Glenn Gregory on vocals and changed their name to Heaven 17.

penthouse side:
1-Groove Thang
2-Optimum Chant
3-Uptown Apocalypse

pavement side:
4-A Baby Called Billy
5-Rise of the East
6-Music to Kill your Parents by
(1980)

P.i.L. -Albatross/Death Disco Remix EP

I'm not too sure of the origins of this but it is a reissue 12" with long remixes from Metal Box. It's a nice heavy slab of gray marble wax. Albatross is over 10 minutes of jangly dubby madness & Death Disco is nearly 10 minutes long. 'Words cannot express' 'Words are useless' (1979?)

-Albatross ('Melodrama' Mix)
-Death Disco (Swan Lake) (Unedited Monitor Mix)

The Trashmen - Henrietta b/w Rumble

The Trashmen are most known for their version of the 'Surfin' Bird'. This is a 45 reissue I have from 'Sundazed Music Inc.' on beautiful blue vinyl. Recorded live at Proaches Popular Ballroom on August 22, 1965. The B-side is a nice cover of Link Wray's fuzzy 'Rumble'.

Slant 6 split w/ The Make UP

Stop 7"

Side One

1. I Love You A Lot
2. Rebel Rebel, Bat Cat

This split w/ The Make-Up came out in 1995 from the label Time Bomb. The song 'Rebel Rebel Bat Cat' is a very sweet rendition of Bowie's Rebel Rebel with altered lyrics about a feline. Coincidentally my oldest cat is named Bat and I consider this our love song. I'm assuming the Make-Up songs are still available on the CD version of the 'I Want Some' LP so I won't post 'We're Having A Baby' & 'Young Vulgarians'.

This post is for Danny.

Bratmobile - She Said

Here's a lo-fi love song reminiscent of the Vaselines recording under a big comforter, but in a good way. This was part of trple 7" package with bands from Richmond, Baltimore, & D.C. Each City's record had a different color; Pink, Brown, & White. I only have the white one with Bratmobile. I'm wondering if Richmond was Pink or Brown.
